Why Did You Decide to become
a Dentist?
It was at a very young age when Dr. Beamer grew a love for dentistry. In fact, since her mother was
pregnant while studying at dental school, she sometimes thinks she was destined to become a dentist
even before she was born! Her father is also a practicing dentist and at one point a room in his dental office
to a nursery, which allowed her to grow up surrounded by dentistry. As she grew older, she became more curious
about the profession and even helped her parents with emergency patients on the weekends. Today, her passion for
dentistry only grows stronger by the day along with the relationships she builds with her patients.
Where Did You Study Dentistry?
Dr. Beamer began her career by first earning her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Virginia Tech. She
then went on to attend East Carolina University School of Dental Medicine for her dental doctorate,
graduating with honors and even receiving the Dr. William S. Kramer Award of Excellence in her 3rd year.
During her education, she worked on several research projects that focused on oral lesions and
accelerating dental clearance for cancer patients. She also has a published case report in the Online
Journal of Dentistry and Oral Health.
Over the years, Dr. Beamer has gathered tremendous experience in the field, and expanded her skills well beyond
that of your typical general dentist. Most notably, she is trained to provide dental implant surgery, and has
completed over a hundred hours of a continuum to become a Fellow of the International Congress of Oral
Implantologists. She regularly seeks advanced training to refine her skills and remain up-to-date with the
latest developments in dentistry. She’s a proud member of several professional organizations, including:
- Academy of General Dentistry
- Massachusetts Dental Society
- American Dental Association
Outside the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?
When she isn’t at the office helping people maintain and improve their oral health, Dr. Beamer likes to
spend her time cooking, traveling to new places, and enjoying everything outdoors. She’s also an active care
enthusiast and loves weekend 'cars and coffee' events, as well as taking her car to track events.
Additionally, she likes going to collegiate and professional sporting events, and she is a major Hokie fan.
One cool fact about her: she was once featured in the Audi Club of North America Women’s Edition of
Quattro Magazine with her Audi RS3!
